Piers Morgan has faced a furious backlash after blasting House of Gucci as “jaw-droppingly dreadful”.
The former Good Morning Britain host went to see the Hollywood film with his wife Celia this week – but he was left bitterly disappointed at the star-studded movie.
In fact, Piers was so unimpressed with the movie that he ended up walking out of the cinema half-way through the showing.
The biographical film, directed by Ridley Scott, features a star-studded cast including pop icon Lady Gaga and Suicide Squad star Jared Leto.
However, it seems this wasn’t enough for Piers, and he took to Twitter to blast the film in front of his 7.9 million followers.
Piers shared a photo of the House of Gucci film poster – and wrote: “Walked out of this movie tonight after 80 minutes. It’s jaw-droppingly dreadful.”
Fans of the film fumed at his review – and they didn’t hold back when they replied to the broadcaster.
One user wrote: “Think I’ll make my own mind up. I find IMDB to be a better barometer than Piers Morgan.”
A second said: “No it’s not…… probably too busy looking for your name on social media during the film and then lost the story. I’m sure Ridley Scott is losing sleep over your review….”
A third commented: “Disagree. I enjoyed it. Some great acting. It was a slow burner. But a story well told. People make your own minds up. Piers half glass empty again”
One made a cheeky dig, referencing the time he walked off of the GMB set during his Meghan Markle row.
They wrote: “Walking out is your thing though, so I’m not sure this tells us anything about this movie.”
As it stands, the film, which came out on November 26, has
However, some agreed with Piers – having also been disappointed by the film.
One fan said: “Looked dreadful in the trailer”
A second added: “I watched it and it’s sooooo disappointing. Using Maradona to show totally unappealing story is a crime. I hated it.”
Channel 4 presenter Matt Frei quipped: “What took you so long?”
Piers saw the funny side and replied: “Celia’s willpower held out longer than mine..” as he attached a laughing-face emoji.
A premise for the biographical film reads: “When Patrizia Reggiani, an outsider from humble beginnings, marries into the Gucci family, her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family legacy and triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge — and ultimately murder.”
It was first released on November 26 – and had a reported budget of $75 million..
