Christmas number one wannabe, LadBaby, might not overly happy with his challengers this year — The Kunts.
LadBaby are facing stiff competition from The Kunts, who have released ” Boris Johnson Is Still A F*****g C***.”
LadBaby, or Mark Hoyle, is teaming up with music stars Ed Sheeran and Elton John.
The proceeds of LadBaby’s “Merry Christmas, Sausage Rolls for Everyone” go to the Trussell Trust, a charity that provides over 1,200 food banks across the UK.
Talking of The Kunts new hit, LadBaby said: “It takes a certain sort of person to download a song with that in the title, but you never know.
“There’s definitely an element that people aren’t happy with this government, but our song is for charity – I don’t believe theirs is – and ours is trying to raise more money than ever for food banks.”
But Christmas beef aside, who are The Kunts?
Who are The Kunts?
The Kunts are a satirical comedy band created by Kunt and the Gang.
According to their website, ‘Kunt’ formed Kunt and the Gang in 2003 after the breakup of his previous group, Pubic Cube. It appears that The Kunts were then formed in 2020.
The Kunts now features singer Kunt, guitarist Carsehole, bassist Rubber Johnny and drummer F**ksticks.
The small feud between LadBaby and The Kunts is hardly Blur vs Oasis or The Cure vs The Smiths, but they have not been overly complimentary of each other.
In a statement, Kunt responded to LadBaby’s criticism that it takes a “certain sort of person” to buy their track.
He said: “It takes the sort of person that is prepared to look beyond the tepid diarrhoea that is pumped into people’s consciousness via mainstream TV, radio and the tabloid newspapers.”
“We may be vulgar in the language we use to get our point across but we would not be so vulgar as to use food banks to hawk records, increase our profile or sign lucrative sponsorship deals.
“Let me be clear, we would not stoop to using poverty, hunger and despair to promote our career like we believe LadBaby have done in this year’s Christmas number one campaign.”
The Kunts Christmas song 2021
The band had already released the song Boris Johnson is a F**king C**t in 2020, which reached number five in the charts over the Christmas period. They hope to knock LadBaby off the top spot this year with their new release Boris Johnson Is Still A F*****g C***.
Explaining the reason behind the song website, the band said to NME : “There’s definitely a bigger buzz already than at this point last year, but we are a few troublemakers chivvying people along on social media, compared to the massive major label publicity machine behind Sheeran, Elton and LadBaby – so whether we get there will be purely down to whether enough people find out about it in time.”
Asked what it would mean to him to get the Christmas Number One, Kunt said: “It would mean everything. Not just personally but the idea of it being written into the history books that at Christmas 2021 collectively we all stood up and said, ‘We deserve better than this’.”
Where are The Kunts from?
Kunt is originally from Basildon in Essex. He has never released his real name The artist’s real name, in his own words “so as to not ruin the magic”.
In his career before The Kunts, Kunt and the Gang released songs such as “Jimmy Savile and the Sexy Kids”, “The Wrong Ian Watkins” and “A Lonely W**k in a Travelodge”.
In hoping to knock LadBaby off the top spot, they have released various versions of Boris Johnson Is Still A F*****g C*** including a safe for work version where all the words are replaced by ‘Sausage Roll’.
Despite his distaste at LadBaby’s sausage roll charity single, Kunt said: “Please don’t let any of this distract from the fact that the Trussell Trust is a necessary and worthy charity at this point in time and it is good to support food banks with donations of food and money.”
