Coronation Street actress Kimberly Hart-Simpson has shared the tragic news that her mum was taken to hospital after a “serious accident” just moments before Christmas Day.
The 34-year-old soap star took to Instagram on Christmas Eve to share the heartbreaking news about her mother.
Kimberly, who is best known for her role as Nicky Wheatly on the cobbles, shared a picture of herself clutching her mum’s hand in a tight grip at her hospital bedside.
Along with the picture of herself holding her mum’s hand, Kimberly wrote: “To the woman that carried me. Your turn.”
In another post, she penned: “Perspective. This week online it looks like a wonderful life.
“Reality; it is – but it’s fragile.”
Kimberly continued: “Mumzy had a serious accident and between keeping up appearances, hospital visits and the dogs asking what’s for dinner, I haven’t had time to feel festive or reply to you all thanking you for your kind words on this week’s post.”
“But I appreciate you,” added the ITV actress.
She went on to thank some of the special staff who had gone to extra lengths to raise a smile at this time of year and for patients who want nothing more than to be with family.
The Celebs Go Dating Star followed up with: “There is this nurse on the ward who comes in singing to her patients dancing giving it big beans at all times.
“And I know that she is trained to save lives but it’s like she injects life too.”
It has certainly proved to be quite a week for the Corrie star, after it was also announced that she would be reprising her role on the soap.
An insider reported to The Sun that Nicky’s comeback would “rock” Daniel Osbourne’s entire world after she’d been there for him through Sinead’s death.
