Wham's Shirlie finally says if husband Martin Kemp was in Last Christmas video

Ex-Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp was rumoured to have made an appearance in the music video for Last Christmas.

The Christmas classic by his wife Shirlie Kemp and her Wham! bandmates is a staple piece across the festive period for Brits and is currently sat at No3 in the Official UK charts.

Martin and Shirlie met through their mutual pal and Shirlie’s bandmate, George Micheal before tying the knot in 1988 before welcoming their firstborn, singer Harley Moon Kemp a year later.

The couple appeared on the Christmas Day special of ITV’s Good Morning Britain, with Martin claiming that Shirlie had “cheated” on him while making the video for Last Christmas.

Martin and Shirlie were quizzed by Kate Garraway about the music video before they revealed that the singer was never in the video, despite years of speculation.

Confirming the news, Shirlie admitted that the man who appeared alongside her was somebody else.

She said: “I had a boyfriend, he was an actor,” before ex-EastEnders star Martin joked: “Shirlie was two-timing me with an actor!”

Shirlie who went on to perform alongside bandmate Pepsi continued: “He was an American actor, but everyone thought that was Martin but it wasn’t.

“So, let’s say that now, Martin wasn’t in the Last Christmas video.”

Fans had speculated that Martin had played Shirlie’s boyfriend in the Last Chrismas video

Martin added: “But you’re right, it is an iconic piece of 80s video and it’s absolutely wonderful.”

Following their dramatic bombshell, the pair paid tribute to their late pal George Micheal who passed away aged 53 on Christmas Day back in 2016.

Shirlie admitted she thinks about George “every day” before saying: “There’s not often a day that goes by that those people you lost and loved aren’t in my thoughts.

“But Christmas, I thank him really, because he gave me some of the best Christmases I ever had.

“I’m so grateful for that because he knew how to create magic and always invited us around his house.”

Due to their close bond, George was honoured by Martin and Shirlie when they asked him to be the godfather of their son, Roman Kemp who recently joked that gifts from George always outshone those from his parents.

Wham! performed together for five years, selling 28 million albums and 15 million singles across the globe before disbanding in 1986.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
