Kate Garraway reveals new fears about husband Derek Draper after 'bumpy Christmas Day'

Kate Garraway told fans her new fears after husband Derek Draper became weak during a ‘bumpy’ Christmas Day with the family.

The Good Morning Britain star took to Instagram to update followers about Derek’s fought with long Covid.

The 54-year-old says Derek suffered ‘super fatigue’ on the special day and the health scare meant he may have had to go back into hospital.

A nurse was called in to visit Derek, who is believed to be one. of the UK’s longest Covid patients still battling the effects of the virus.

Kate took to social media to write: “So the last 24 hours has been bumpy – a scare that meant Derek might have had to go back into hospital (thankfully sorted by a visit from nurse/carer), he has also had one of his ultra fatigue days so has been too weak to do much other than sleep.”

Kate also spoke about Christmas chaos from burning vegetables to presents.

She added: “I burnt the parsnips (Darcey’s favourite) & got the “wrong” Lego for Billy. But now snuggled up around Dad’s bed watching #nativity everything feels suddenly perfect.”

After the bumpy road, she admitted she feels ‘grateful’ for the chance to spend the special day together as a family.

All three appear to be watching the TV together, as Christmas decorations hang in the background near the window.

Derek had been allowed home for Christmas after spending more than a year in hospital, including several months in Intensive Care.

The journalist opened up on his slow but positive progress on Good Morning Britain earlier this week in a recent update.

She said: “We were playing a silly game, one of those moral question games…and they asked “Who is likely to find money on the floor and keep it?” and everyone in the room said all at the same time “Darcy,” and he started to laugh.

“And honestly, it was just the most lovely moment because you thought he does get it, he does understand. And he’s right! Because she is the most likely!”
