Camila Cabello has announced she is having a ‘social media detox’ ahead of the new year.
The 24-year-old is often on Instagram and has 59 million followers on the social media platform.
The singer-songwriter who is a former member of the girl band Fifth Harmony regularly gives fans a glimpse into her life on her platforms and promotes the projects she is working on.
The singer has revealed she is taking a temporary break for at least the rest of the year due to spending to much time on her phone.
Writing on her Instagram story, she said: “Going on a lil social media detox till the new year!”
Discussing the reason behind the decision, Camila said: “Just wanna spend a little less time on my phone this week.”
Most recently the performer shared a birthday post for her mother, Sinuhe Estrabao.
Alongside a sweet photo of her, Camila explained that her mother had taught her “important” lessons.
She penned: “You really taught me what love and generosity look like- the most important things in life- kindness, empathy, compassion, taking care of people- you’ve taught me by how you walk and move in this world.
“I wish you so much fun, laughter, friendship, joy, and deep rest today and always. Happy birthday you Christmas baby!!!!!”
Camila’s social media break follows after she announced her breakup from partner Shawn Mendes, 23.
In a joint statement, they said: “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever.
“We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward.”
The former couple have previously collaborated on music projects together including the duet, I Know What You Did Last Summer, which was released in 2015.
Their second duet, Senorita, went to top the charts in multiple countries in 2019 and was nominated for several awards.
