Simon Cowell touching final attempt to help Il Divo star Carlos Marin before he died

Simon Cowell’s thoughtful gesture to Il Divo star Carlos Marin before he died has been revealed by his ex-wife.

Following a battle with Covid, Carlos died on December 19.

12 days before passing away the Spanish singer tested positive for the deadly virus and was put in a coma and intubated.

Carlo’s ex-wife Geraldine Larrosa was with the II Divo star when he passed has now shared how Simon Cowell was there for the star days before his death.

The music mogul, 62, had worked with Carlos after putting together him, Urs Bühler, David Miller, and Sébastien Izambard as a group who went on to have huge success.

According to Geraldine, Simon offered to help when Carlos fell ill and even offered to charter a jet for the singer.

Speaking her native language in a video to Hola!, she said: “Simon Cowell personally phoned the hospital and offered to help with anything.

“To help him, send him a plane in case they could fly [to Spain] sooner, but it was impossible. He was very sick and he would not have survived the pressure of the plane.”

Father-of-one Simon paid tribute to Carlos on Twitter last week.

He said: “I am finding this so difficult to put into words how I feel right now.

“I am devastated Carlos Marin has passed away. He loved life.

“He loved performing and always had so much appreciation towards the fans who supported the group from day 1. Rest in peace Carlos. I will miss you.”

Carlos’ bandmates broke the tragic news of his passing on social media.

Il Divo’s page wrote: “It is with heavy hearts that we are letting you know that our friend and partner, Carlos Marin, has passed away.

“He will be missed by his friends, family, and fans. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos.

“For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend.

“We hope and pray that his beautiful soul will rest in peace. With Love — David, Sebastien and Urs.”
