Igor Bogdanoff has died following complications with Covid-19 just days after his twin brother Grichka passed away from the virus.
It has been claimed that the energetic French TV chef died from coronavirus in a Parisian hospital Paris after his late sibling died of the illness last week.
The TV presenter passed away on Monday afternoon, just six days after his brother’s passing, both aged 72.
The star’s loved ones confirmed the tragic news with a statement on Monday hours after his death as they grieved the entertainer’s passing.
The statement read: “In peace and love, surrounded by his children and his family, Igor Bogdanoff left for the light on Monday January 3, 2022.”
Igor’s close friend and former French Minister of Education Lucas Ferry also confirmed that the star was in intensive care after he first contracted the virus in mid-December.
It comes after his beloved twin brother, Grichka, died on December 15 after he was reportedly hospitalised in Paris when he contracted Covid.
The cause of their deaths has not yet been confirmed.
It comes after a source close to the family told Le Monde that neither Grichka nor Igor was vaccinated against the deadly virus.
The star – who was married to the French writer and historian Amélie de Bourbon Parme before their divorce – has left behind six children.
Beloved twins Igor and Grichka were known for the eccentric personalities in the city of France and were most notably known for their signature facial structures which they always insisted was not the result of plastic surgery.
The pair first started their career in entertainment in the 1980s as the presenters of the popular sci-fi show Temps X.
They then went on to host a number of other shows – with a passion for intergalactic work – including Rayons X which aired in 2002.
Most recently, the pair appeared on the French version of The Masked Singer where they sang their hearts out while hidden behind the creative costumes.
