Coronation Street fans are convinced that elderly resident, Ted, could be related to Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) just moments after his death.
During Monday’s instalment of the popular ITV soap, viewers watched Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) and Faye Winadass (Ellie Leach) enjoy another driving lesson.
But after a night out on the town for New Year’s celebrations, it’s fair to say the brunette beauty hadn’t entirely recovered from the wild night and was worse for wear when the pair got into the vehicle.
During the lesson, when the pair were both distracted, they accidentally ran over an elderly resident who stepped out into the road after his shopping bag split and rolled into the main road.
As the pair helped him get back up and gave him a life back to his house, the elderly victim recalled how his grandson “John” visits him each week to check up on him.
After taking the injured pensioner home – who insisted he didn’t want to go to hospital because he felt fine – the pair checked in on him later on in the episode to check on him and discovered he had died.
Emma and Faye – who was recently from prison – decided to cover up the crime and not alert the emergency services.
It was at this point that fans jumped to conclusions and shared their theories as to who the mystery man could be on social media.
Soap watchers have now predicted that Ted’s grandson could actually be Curtis, who is Emma’s ex-fiancé, and that John could be his real name after his numerous lies on the show in the past.
One person tweeted: “Is Curtis going to be the grandson they keep mentioning? #Corrie.”
Another theorised: “Just a thought – will Ted’s grandson turn out to be Curtis? #Corrie #CoronationStreet.”
A third fan of the show chimed in with: “I have a feeling Ted is related to Curtis? Maybe his grandad? #Corrie.”
Elsewhere another guessed: “I bet the old Man is Curtis’s Grandfather … Well, this is … #Corrie anything is possible.”
Corrie airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm on ITV.
