Lorraine Kelly made a sly dig at one of the candidates on The Apprentice 2022 – after finding out that she was a qualified witch.
The ITV daytime host was discussing the latest batch of 16 contestants set to impress business titan Lord Sugar on series 16 of the BBC One show – which kicks off on Thursday (January 16).
The entrepreneurs will compete against each-other in various tasks over the next few weeks in a bid to win a £250,000 investment from Lord Sugar.
However, on Wednesday’s show (January 5), Lorraine couldn’t help laughing at the line-up when she found out about one contestant’s unusual skill – being a qualified witch.
Sophie Wilding, from Cheltenham, is a cocktail bar owner who is also a qualified witch who went to a witching school.
Host Lorraine was clearly baffled by the witching qualification as she admitted she had “no idea” where one can get such a unique certificate.
She even joked that Sophie could have have enrolled as a student at Hogwarts School – the fictional wizarding school from JK Rowling’s Harry Potter books.
Discussing the line-up on her show, the host said: “This year’s contestants have been revealed as well and among those hoping not to get fired…
“A former rugby player, and a qualified witch – I’m told.”
Lorraine started giggling as she went on: “One goggles at how you could be a qualified witch – maybe you go to a witch university, Hogwarts I suppose? I’ve no idea.”
Before joining the BBC series, Sophie said that “Failure is not an option” for her, and that “winning is part of my DNA.”
She also described her as “magical and enchanting” – and believes her positive attitude will help her beat her rivals on the show.
The 32-year-old is hoping to secure Lord Sugar’s investment to help fund her boutique cocktail business – which she plans to renovate.
