Josie Gibson was told by a family member to go and get a job at a Lidl supermarket before bagging her dream role.
The This Morning favourite, who found fame after winning the 2010 series of Big Brother, has shared that she and her family were not convinced she could make it on TV.
Speaking to The Sun, she revealed how her grandma said she should give her CV into a supermarket chain to hopefully get a checkout job.
She said: “It was only a few years ago that my nan suggested I apply for a job at Lidl because they are good payers.”
Josie admitted she often struggles to come to terms with her career path and being on one of the biggest daytime TV shows in This Morning.
She continued: “I think something has always had my back, I don’t know what it is. I suppose I’m quite religious.
“Then again, you don’t know what’s around the corner — it could be here today and gone tomorrow, so you’ve got to enjoy it.”
Josie recently hosted the ITV show alongside Dermot O’Leary to cover for Alison Hammond.
The star introduced herself by entering the studio saying: “I’m here!”
Co-host Dermot replied: “I know you are, Alison is having a day off. What have you done with her, Josie?”
Josie then explained: “Alison did say I could cover her today, but only if I get her a really nice birthday present.”
Viewers were quick to hail her as a “queen”, with one writing: “QUEEN JOSIE IS BACK!!! @Josiestweet @thismorning #ThisMorning.”
“Josie looks v different today – v glam indeed #thismorning,” another tweeted.
Another wrote: “Yay Josie is on! Also, love her hair and make-up today. #thismorning.”
A third commented: “@Josiestweet You look stunning today on @thismorning & you are a brilliant presenter too. Hope to see you more in the studio.”
Josie has also filled in for Holly Willoughby for three days after she became ill in November last year.
She also sat on the sofa alongside Vernon Kay in the lead-up to Christmas.
