BBC Breakfast Naga Munchetty gives Saturday Kitchen crew stern warning over 'filthy' gag

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty warned presenter Matt Tebbutt and TV chef Freddy Bird from Saturday Kitchen Live to “keep it clean” as she introduced the show on air.

The 46-year-old was less than impressed during Saturday’s instalment of the popular morning show as her introduction for the upcoming cookery show turned awkward.

While the broadcaster and her co-host Charlie Stayt brought the news show to an end, they informed viewers what they could expect over the next hour as they went live to the professional kitchen alongside singer-songwriter Elvis Costello.

But the cheeky chaps couldn’t help but share some TV banter with the morning news reader as they told fans they could expect Freddy’s “filthy” cooking later on in the show.

After Matt discussed Elvis’ heaven and hell dish to be served up to him on the show, Naga asked: “What else have you got in store for us today?”

Matt explained: “We’ve got a mixture of indulgence today as we’ve got Freddy Bird and Anna Jones – I’ll let you guess which is which.”

On the show. Freddy would be preparing curried mayonnaise lobster rolls with pickled cucumber and black pepper and garlic butter shoe string fries.

Matt then passed on to Anna, as he asked: “Anna, how are you going to balance Freddy’s filth?” as she informed him she would be cooking up a quick chickpea and harrisa braise.

As he threw the camera back to Naga, she said: “I’m loving the vibe in your studio this morning” to which he replied: “it’s kind of like, ‘Meh’ it’s just relaxed.”

The raven -haired beauty went on to point out: “‘Meh’ isn’t a very good way to describe it, and I wouldn’t call Freddy’s stuff filthy I think it sounds fantastic.”

Matt argued: “Yeah but it is quite filthy” before she cut him off saying: “Well, that’s a whole other conversation isn’t it?”

But the star couldn’t help but get one more joke in there, as he chuckled: “It’s almost like you know him?”

It was at this point that Naga sternly said: “Matthew, have a good show, keep it clean. See you later.”
