BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker reacts to show bosses posting job advert for new presenter

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker has reacted to the news that his show is hiring a new presenter – promising his job is “more fun” than it looks.

Richard Frediani, the editor of BBC Breakfast, took to Twitter to promote the new job opening, by posting the advert for the role complete with a photograph of four of the presenters including Dan Walker.

The editor penned a tweet which read: “Your chance to join the team at #BBCBreakfast at @MediaCityUK in Salford. We are looking for top class journalists to work on the UK’s No. 1 morning show.”

Dan then quoted the tweet and added: “Believe me… it’s a lot more fun than I’m making it look in the picture,” picking up on the photo where he looked rather vacant.

One fan joked: “Looks like Sally thinks you farted, but it was really Charlie or Naga.”

While others were more concerned Dan could be jumping ship to join a rival sports programme, tweeting: “You leaving Dan? [Match of the Day]?”

However, Dan has indicated he has no plans to leave BBC Breakfast any time soon, explaining during his numerous absences around the festive period that he was simply taking time off to be with family.

A third penned: “Dan you look like cardboard cut out and the rest of the gang are sharing a joke about you.”

While a fourth joked: “Any chance you can put a word in for me Dan, I quite fancy the job, never done any journalism but I think I would be good at it as long as my laptop has got spellchecker.”

The job in question is for the role of a journalist who will be involved with putting the programme together both at the planning and on-air stages.

The job description details: “Breakfast is on air seven days a week and operates on a 24 hour rota. The successful candidate must be flexible to work 12 hour shifts (days and nights) across the week.”

If that wasn’t exciting enough, the chance to work with presenters including Dan, Sally Nugent, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt might seal the deal for some keen BBBC Breakfast fans.

BBC Breakfast airs everyday on BBC One at 6am.
