Rapper Wavy Navy Pooh dies aged 28 after being 'shot dead in front of two children'

Wavy Navy Pooh, whose real name is Shandler Beaubien, was shot dead while driving with two children in his car.

The rapper, aged 28, was allegedly killed on Friday night in Kendall, Florida, a suburb in Miami.

Local police have said that he was driving a Toyota Camry at the time of the alleged shooting.

A spokesman for the Miami-Dade Police Department said that a one-year-old baby boy was in a car seat in the front and a five-year-old boy was in the back of the car with a woman.

It was also stated that one of the children was celebrating their birthday.

Police said the shooter was seen in a grey Lexus and confirmed that the children and the woman were unharmed.

It has been reported that the shooting took place near Miami’s zoo which resulted in the Covid testing site at the zoo to shut down until Saturday.

The rapper, who has 77,000 followers on Instagram, has released multiple tracks over his budding career.

He released two albums, one titled Endangered and the other called Murder Is A Major Issue, his tracks include Miami, Party and Money On My Head.

In his latest Instagram post he shared a clip of him performing a track as he wrote: “Go run it up! in the caption.

Since his death, the clip has been inundated with tributes, with one person commenting: “Tell me it ain’t true bra.”

Another added: “Can’t even believe this news smh.”

A third wrote: “RIP homie.”

Wavy Navy Pooh was signed to record label Quality Control Music when he was 25 years old.

Speaking of him on their website, Quality Control Music wrote: “Rap up-and-comer Wavy Navy Pooh wears his heart on his sleeve with the vivid and hard-hitting tracks that chronicle the harsh realities of his upbringing in one of Miami’s most dangerous districts.”

It read that he credited Instagram for “saving his life”, which is where he received a direct message from the record label which ultimately saw him get signed.

Sharing his own statement on releasing his music, particularly with track Miami, he said: “Hip hop inspired me because I always saw a way out for people like myself coming from nothing…I want to be a legend when it’s all said & done. I want the world to know the other side of Miami.”
