Sinead O’Connor paid colourful tribute to her son Shane at his Hindu funeral on Saturday after the teenager tragically took his own life.
Shane, 17, was laid to rest following an intimate ceremony, which was attended by 50 mourners, including his father Donal Lunny.
The funeral took place at Newlands Cross Cemetery and Crematorium in West Dublin.
Sinead, 55, wore an all-pink outfit to honour her son’s wishes, who wanted everyone in attendance to wear bright colours.
The Nothing Compares 2 U singer took to Twitter shortly after the ceremony to tell her followers her late son would “have loved it”.
In her post, Sinead referred to a mantra meaning “om peace, peace, peace” that appears in Buddhist prayers and writings, the spiritual singer continued: “‘He was always chanting ‘Om. Shanti’.
“I put a few packs of fags in the coffin for him in case there’s none in heaven. He’ll have loved that too. Om. Shanti.”
Sinead shared on Friday that she had been admitted to hospital after sharing a series of worrying tweets.
Taking to social media, Sinead told her followers her son Shane’s death was “no one’s fault but my own,” sparking concern amongst her fans.
Sinead then temporarily deactivated her account, before coming back online to tell her fans that she was okay and was with the Gardai (Irish police).
She told her fans she was “very upset” but sorry for what she said.
Sinead penned: “I’m sorry for what I tweeted yesterday. I’m very upset. My son was the love of my life.
“I am sorry I’ve upset Tusla and just about every other human being on earth also. I am ruined without my son. I am sorry I’ve upset anyone. I’m a t**t.
“I am with cops now on way to hospital. I’m sorry I upset anyone.”
