Davina McCall 'hopes' Bagpipes isn't tennis legend after taking brutal swipe at star

The Masked Singer judge Davina McCall is very hopeful that John McEnroe isn’t revealed behind the mask of Bagpipes.

Davina confessed she had a theory as to who the celebrity acting as the Scottish instrument was – but she immediately shut it down because she didn’t think he was “fun”.

After singing Teenage Dirtbag and dropping multiple clues to the audience, Jonathan Ross said that he was 100% convinced of who was behind the mask.

Davina also said that she was pretty confident in her decision, and ultimately the fitness fanatic was chosen to be the first of the celebrity judges to share their thoughts.

As she spilled on her theory she said: “It’s somebody who plays tennis for a living and clearly music is your other absolute passion and that’s why you are on the show.

“Last time I thought it could be John McEnroe, but you’re too much fun. It’s not John McEnroe, it’s Pat Cash!”

Still sticking with the tennis clues, Jonathan Ross quipped: “John McEnroe is great fun!”

As the fellow celebrities shared their guesses, by the time it whirled back to Jonathan Ross he was left completely adamant that John McEnroe was the person under the mask.

His theory sparked fear in Davina after her brutal comment about the tennis player as she confessed she hopes it’s not the legendary player.

Davina quipped: “Please be Pat Cash, please!”

Jonathan joked that McEnroe hates to be beaten and joked to Rita that it was obvious it was him because he once beat him adding: “You can tell he’s furious”.

Fans of the show agreed with Jonathan’s guess as they poured in to support him – but ultimately it was Davina who had the last laugh.

As Bagpipes was unveiled on the show, Pat Cash was revealed as the celebrity under the mask and said he “loves” rock and confessed he has family in Scotland, hence the outfit.

Before leaving, he said: “What a great experience. I am very, very lucky.”

Speaking on his time on the show, he said: I’ve always been a frustrated rock star and fancied doing the Masked Singer from the first day I saw it.

“I just thought it would be so much fun to rock out, although I prefer to hide behind a guitar instead of a sweaty mask. It was a great experience overall.”

Pat Cash may have been revealed – but who will be the next person unmasked?

The Masked Singer on ITV and ITV Hub continues on Saturdays at 7pm
