Dancing On Ice viewers have been ‘cringing’ over the ‘cheesy’ intro sequence that played before the launch of the popular skating-come-dancing show.
With the programme returning to our screens on Sunday night (January 16), fans were anticipating the show to return with a bang – and it did just that, but some viewers were divided in opinion.
Before the show began, a theatrical title sequence played which saw the stars step out of cars, telephone boxes and walk down a cobbled street, before looking up to the sky.
As the celebrities all looked above, Torvill and Dean skated across the sky.
“That cringe title sequence though #dancingonice,” one viewer said.
Another penned: “I know @torvillanddean are legends but Jesus wept that intro was rather cringe, I mean a bit over the top for a @ITV show.”
A third said: “How bl**dy cheesy!! #dancingonice.”
While a fourth critiqued: “It was nice of them to let a GCSE class do their intro #DancingOnIce.”
And another said: “That intro was far too dramatic #DancingOnIce.”
But some viewers enjoyed the glamour-filled theatrics of the new introduction, with one writing: “wow what a BEAUTIFUL Intro to such a great show i was luck enough to see way back in 2007 #Dancingonice,” and someone else said: “Loved that intro!”
Another viewer hyped up the drama-filled sequence, dubbing it ‘stunning’ and said: “What a STUNNING opening sequence to #DancingOnIce #DOI.”
With the skating show back on our screens, viewers of the programme will see the likes of former Love Island star Liberty Poole compete against Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, Happy Mondays’ Bez, Paralympian Stef Reid, rugby star Ben Foden, and pop star and actress Kimberly Wyatt.
As well as – Paul Gascoigne’s son Regan Gascoigne, pop star Rachel Stevens, professional dancer Brendan Cole, presenter Ria Hebden, BMX Olympic silver medalist Kye Whyte and The Vamps’ Connor Ball.
Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6:30pm on ITV.
