The One Show fans were left confused after they’d tuned in to watch Neil Morrisey on Tuesday’s episode of the BBC series.
Baffled viewers claimed that the Men Behaving Badly actor, 59, sounded “notably posher” as she spoke to hosts Jermaine Jenas, 38, and Lauren Laverne, 43.
The TV star, who was raised in Stafford and now lives in Bromley, seemed to have a slightly different tone to his voice – according to avid fans online, that is.
Taking to Twitter one person kicked off the debate, asking: “Why is Neil Morrissey so posh?”
Another added: “Is it me, or is Neil Morrissey notably posher than he used to be?”
One response beneath the initial tweet read: “25 years ago he didn’t even have ‘supper’.”
While a second replied: “It’s like he’s totally forgotten he’s from the Midlands.”
Neil took centre stage on the programme to promote the return of The Good Karma Hospital.
The popular drama returns for its fourth season – with Neil playing to loveable barman Greg McConnell.
According to Neil his character Greg bumps into a bit of trouble with trying to remain in India for this series.
He explained to Jermaine: “[Greg] commits a heroic act – saving a boy from some bullies – and then of course he/I get arrested which is quite good fun.
“Then they find out there are some inconstancies with my visa, so then it turns out throughout the series I then have troubles trying to be able to actually stay in India.
“It’s a sort of reflection of what’s been happening over here, with migrants and coming over, you’ve got to get your ducks lined up in order to do the correct thing and Greg has been naughty and hasn’t.”
The Good Karma Hospital season 4 airs on ITV on Sunday 23rd January at 8pm.
The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One.
