Adele offered drinks to an underage fan, in a bid to comfort them after travelling to Las Vegas for her cancelled residency, before realising that she’d made a big mistake.
The hit-making icon FaceTimed fans who flew out to Las Vegas to see her perform at Caesars Palace on Thursday night.
Disappointed fans were heartbroken when they found out that her residency was cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, so Adele made an unbelievable gesture and FaceTimed them.
The 33-year-old star ended up offering free drink tokens to the disappointed ticket holders, before quickly going back on what she had said.
Realising her fans were underage and not able to drink alcohol, Adele quickly backtracked after she offered each ticket-holder a free gift bag from her Vegas merchandise store.
The merch shop stocks personalised items including various tops, hoodies and other items of clothing, as well as jewellery and wine too – as per her song, I Drink Wine.
With an array of garments on offer that had Adele’s name and song titles splashed across them all, some items ranged between $90 and $110 – more than the $85 tickets on offer to see the star live.
A caring Adele did however voice her concerns of the prospect of loyal fans being left out of pocket.
In a video chatting to fans via Facetime, Adele can be heard saying: “I love you too, I’m so sorry and I can’t wait to meet you, alright. Get your free bag – and you’re not old enough to drink are you so you can’t have that free drink token.”
She then urged: “You’re too young,” in reaction to the comment on the drink token, before adding: “Get your freebies and chat to anyone. Ask any of my team anything about the show, ask them anything about me, about the show.”
The British songstress then said: “I designed that score myself, I bled and f**king sweated and cried into it. So just have fun to all the fans and I’m really sorry and it’s really nice to meet you both.
“And I’m truly, truly like humbled at you two at your age. Please thank your mother from me.”
This came after the singer broke down in tears in an online video as she told fans that she’d been forced to postpone her upcoming Las Vegas residency just one day before she was due to perform her first show.
The singer had been scheduled to begin the Friday and Saturday shows on January 21, but she told fans: “My show ain’t ready.”
New dates for her Las Vegas residency are yet to be released, but her merchandise shop is now open for those who have travelled to Las Vegas or live near by.
