Dancing on Ice's Ben Foden axed in first elimination after Ria Hebden skate-off

Ben Foden has become the first celebrity to be axed from the current series of Dancing on Ice.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby welcomed the second group of skatings to the ice for the first time on Sunday night.

Love Island beauty Liberty Poole, rugby ace Ben, Paul Gascoigne’s son Regan Gascoigne, The Vamps singer Connor Ball and Paralympian Stef Reid all performed with their professional partners.

S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens was due to perform but was forced to miss her first show due to injury.

Each couple received a score from judges Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill, Oti Mabuse and Ashely Banjo.

It was later revealed towards the end of the programme that Ben would be joining Ria Hebden from week one in the dreaded skate-off.

The ITV Lorraine presenter made her Dancing on Ice debut last Sunday performing to Harry Styles’ hit Treat Each Other With Kindness.

Ria and her partner Lukasz Rozycki managed to stay away from the bottom of the leader board but failed to win enough votes from the public.

Both pairs skated once again and it was down to the judges to save send one couple home.

After some serious deliberation, the experts decided to keep Ria in the competition, meaning Ben and his partner Robin Johnstone were booted out of the show.

Fans took to social media to react to the first dumping of the 2022 series.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Absolutely stupid they should never have been sent home.”

Another added: “RIA RIA RIA!! Well done love”

A third person posted: “Ria had a week to practice only that routine. Ben was learning 2 routines. Ben should have gone through”

While a fourth social media user said: “How on earth did Ben go out??? He can skate on his own!!”

All remaining couples will take to the ice together for the first time next weekend.
