BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker fumes as Sally brands him 'second class' in tense row

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker was left furious with his co-host Sally Nugent on Tuesday, as she appeared to brand him “second class” in a tense on-air row.

Dan and Sally were hosting the programme from the sofa, with Nina Warhurst chiming in as a correspondent on various affairs of the day, when things turned to the introduction of new postage stamps.

The new stamps will include a barcode to track and trace deliveries, and have been introduced from today.

Dan, Sally and Nina were all handed a huge stamp of their own to demonstrate the system to viewers, with Dan and Nina both holding second class stamps while Sally’s was a first class stamp.

And things soon took a turn for the tense, with Sally beginning: “Have you been hiding something behind the sofa? What have you got?”

Dan replied: “I have got something behind the sofa, would you like to see it? It’s rather large.”

The pair proceeded to pull out their huge stamps, with Dan saying: “Look at this little beauty. It’s a new stamp – you might not recognise this thing, though. It’s got a barcode.”

He went on to ask Sally: “Have you got one as well, by the way?”

But when Sally pulled her own stamp out, Dan immediately asked: “Hold on. Why have you got a first class stamp and I’ve got a second class one? What are they trying to tell me?”

Sally hit out at him: “Don’t you think it’s obvious?” and couldn’t help giggling.

Turning to Nina, Dan demanded: “Are you responsible for this, Warhurst? What’s going on?”

Nina insisted: “No, Dan Walker – I’m second class as well!” as she brandished her own second class stamp.

“We’re a team! You and me are a team!” Dan told her, as Sally kindly reassured them: “No!”

“This is a big day in the world of stamps, we wouldn’t want to miss it,” Nina told Dan and Sally.

It comes after Dan made a cheeky job jibe at Sally earlier on the show, suggesting she doesn’t have her ‘finger on the pulse’ when it comes to staying up late to catch the latest news in sport.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
