Simon Cowell 'lucky to be alive' after being rushed to hospital following bike accident

Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell is “lucky to be alive” after falling off his bike in West London.

It is believed that Simon, 62, was taken to hospital on Thursday night after being involved in an accident near his home, but he was released shortly after.

His latest catastrophe comes just 18 months after he broke his back on an e-bike while in Los Angeles in August 2020.

Sources claim he is “lucky to be alive” after falling off his vehicle for a second time.

Talking to The Sun, a source told the publication: “Simon is lucky to be alive.

“He was pedalling along, with his electric motor on, when the wheels suddenly went from under him after hitting a wet patch.

“He slipped and went flying over the handlebars into the middle of the road.”

Daily Star has contacted Simon’s representative for comment.

An insider who claimed to see the star after the accident said Simon had blood pouring all down his face and “looked like something from Phantom of the Opera”.

Despite his horrific injuries, Simon was released from hospital the same evening with a cast on his arm.

However, sources added that Simon will not give up his electric motor even though he has now had two accidents.

After his first bike ordeal, the father-of-one underwent six hours of surgery – which involved having a metal rod put in his back.

The star recently took part in filming for Britain’s Got Talent

Speaking on Extra TV last year, Simon expressed: “It could have been a lot worse. When I saw the X-ray, I really nearly could have smashed my spine to pieces, so I literally wouldn’t have been able to walk.

Speaking openly about he felt immediately after the crash he continued: “I knew I’d broken my back the minute I landed. It was really, really kind of sudden and it hurt.

“You’re not supposed to move. I was thinking: ‘I’ve got to get back into the house because I can’t lie there’… and made myself kind of get carried into my bedroom, which is right there at the beginning of the house… And I’m lying there and I’m kind of passing out… It was surreal.”

The news of the crash comes after the TV judge finished filming for the news series of Britain’s Got Talent, which is scheduled to air in April.
