Richard Madeley has been branded an “attention seeker” by Good Morning Britain viewers after he shared his bizarre food craving.
The 65-year-old presenter was back on our screens on Tuesday morning alongside co-host Susanna Reid.
While discussing the latest health headlines with Dr Amir Khan, Richard asked the medic why he craves Spam.
The former I’m A Celebrity star explained that he bizarrely craves the canned cooked pork in the middle of the night.
His odd confession didn’t go down well with ITV viewers watching at home.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Why does Madeley crave spam? Cos your an idiot mate.”
Another added: “Richard is such an attention seeker .. he don’t eat spam or is ever starving .. he’s like a kid who craves love.”
A third person posted: “Spam? what does he do, go to bed after doing #gmb and wake up in 1943?”
“Bleughhhh tinned spam #gmb,” a fourth social media user wrote.
Richard went on to ask viewers to write in about their own food cravings.
“I’d like to ask our viewers please. Just so I don’t look like a complete idiot, not that I mind, to tell us what your weird food cravings are. It might be because your pregnant or on the night shift. Please get in touch.
He was delighted when one fan wrote in to share his own Spam obsession.
However, Susanna and the rest of the GMB jokingly asked if Richard was asked a deal with Spam.
She laughed before adding: “If you work in Spam marketing, get in touch.”
GMB contributor Andrew Pierce, who was in the studio, joked: “Maybe Richard works for Spam marketing.”
It comes after Good Morning Britain viewers were left fuming at Richard’s “snide comment” about New Zealand’s lockdown rules.
Following a conversation about coronavirus, Richard described New Zealand as “kings of lockdown”, leaving viewers at home fuming.
