BRIT Awards fans were shocked to see Ed Sheeran open the show alongside Oli Sykes for their surprising performance of Bad Habits.
As fans tuned in up and down the country, viewers were excited to see their favourite red-haired singer take to the stage to perform one of his best-selling singles of 2021.
But as he rocked out to the track on stage, the song suddenly took a turn from his usual acoustic jams as the song introduced the use of an electric guitar with heavy rock influences.
It was at this point that the frontman of the rock band Bring Me the Horizon joined the 30-year-old on stage as he sang the second verse with the song in his typical rock influence.
But fans were slightly taken aback as they watched the performance from their sofas while the rock artist started to scream the lyrics on stage.
As they watched the collaboration on air, viewers flooded to Twitter to share their thoughts on the unusual rendition of the chart topper online.
One user penned: “I am still confused by the combination of BMTH and Ed Sheehan #BRITs.”
Another agreed: “Don’t know what’s worse Bring Me The Horizon and Ed Sheehan collar or the fact that my sister thought Oli Sykes was Noel Fielding #brits.”
A third asked: “Is Ed Sheehan okay got a headache now cheers hun #BRITs.”
Meanwhile, one user pointed out: “When I was 15 I joined a screamo band and it v much had the same confusing vibes as Ed Sheehan and BMTH #BRITs.”
Elsewhere, another fan of the show wrote: “I’ll be hones, I didn’t have an @edsheeran / @bmthofficial mash-up on my 2022 #brits bingo card. Fair play to Ed for giving rock the platform, and to Bring Me for taking on the challenge …”
However, some viewers loved the collaboration and hailed the musical crossover online.
One user argued: “What an opening! Ed always smashes it! And he’s gonna perform another song later on [three star eyes emojis] #brits @edsheeran.”
Another agreed: “That opening with Ed Sheehan was truly amazing, but who is this Mo bloke and does he really need to should all the time?”
Elsewhere, one user gushed: “Yooooooo @bmthofficial & #edsheeran collar at the #brits has made my life [fire emoji].”
