Some BRIT Awards viewers were left unhappy with Adele’s performance at the event after she had cancelled her Las Vegas residency mere weeks before.
Adele did not address the Las Vegas shows at last night’s awards ceremony.
Adele took to the stage after winning the award for Best Single and said that she was grateful because she “didn’t realise how many songs were nominated this year’ and that she ‘couldn’t believe a piano ballad won against all those bangers”.
Despite her colossal win of three awards, fans online were feeling conflicted about the star’s appearance on stage.
One annoyed fan tweeted out: “You’re playing Vegas now? Band seem OK at the BRITs,” and tagged the songstress.
Another fan speculated: “So, Adele can’t manage her own concerts in Vegas, which by the way cost the earth, but she can turn up to the BRITs where she has won awards and is basically headlining the show.”
One viewer joked: “I wonder if they’re showing Adele’s BRITs performance in Las Vegas. Too soon?”
In late January, Adele cancelled her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum, where she was due to perform 24 shows named Weekends With Adele.
The pop singer took to Instagram to update her fans on the situation only 24 hours before she was due to make her first performance.
She apologised through tears and informed her followers that the ‘show isn’t ready’ because ‘half of her team have Covid’ so they experienced delays.
Many fans were sympathetic towards the star but others were upset that they were notified at such short notice.
But she was back with a bang at the BRITs, and despite some fans being annoyed to see her perform after the cancelled Vegas shows, others were delighted.
At the awards bash, the 33-year-old singer stepped onto the red carpet wearing a black ball gown with a deep neckline, sheer panels and long sleeves.
The dress’ train extended out behind her with a mesh overlay on top as she posed for the paparazzi on the carpet, looking naturally beautiful with light makeup and rosy lipstick.
She wore her honey blonde hair in classic Hollywood curls and performed the single I Drink Wine from her latest album at the London O2, for which she won Best British Album alongside Artist Of The Year and Best Song for Easy On Me.
