Ex-Apprentice star takes swipe at current cast as he suggests they 'phone a friend'

Ex-Apprentice star Thomas Skinner couldn’t resist sticking out his claws regarding the sales techniques of this years cast.

Thomas, 28, had previously been hailed by British business magnate Alan Sugar for his gift of selling anything to anyone during his time on the programme.

And he certainly proved to have the gift of the gab, with the star flourishing during the 2019 BBC series despite not winning the £250,000 business deal from Lord Sugar.

Making a cheeky swipe at the lack of sales expertise on this year’s show, the former contestant offered up his own assistance on Twitter.

Poking fun of this years cast, he tweeted: “There should be a phone a friend option.

“Where the candidates can ring me up, and I’ll turn up for 45 minutes and sell the lot. #TheApprentice #Bosh.”

He later joked: “Spoiler alert. Apprentice alternative ending. The Tasks been completed, I drive my van through the back doors into the boardroom explosions everywhere. Lord Sugar jumps in my van and says [you’re] hired. We drive to pub have 20 Stellas. Then sell a load of pillows!”

Tom later reflected on his own tourism task – which saw contestants attempt to draw in punters for a safari experience – as he tweeted: “I remember when I was selling tickets for our safari task in South Africa.

“I went up to a couple and said, come and buy a ticket for our safari and you’ll be on [telly]. Karren Brady come and told me off and said I couldn’t sell it as ‘getting people on telly’!”

On Thursday’s episode of The Apprentice, stars of the show were tasked with selling an exciting Welsh excursion to the public.

Kathryn Louise Barn immediately popped her hand up to take on the project manager (PM) role for a second time.

Amy Anzel – who hasn’t yet been PM – was happy to step aside which was noted in the boardroom by Lord Sugar himself.

The Diverse team was led by Kent native Stephanie Affleck – they opted for a steam train experience along with whiskey sampling at the end.

While their project wasn’t without its failures, they did far better overall.

Things became tense in the boardroom when chief in command Alan, brought Kathryn, Amy, Harpreet Kaur, Akeem Bundu-Kamara and Aaron Willis back to discuss which member of the team would be cut loose.

Kathryn, Harpreet and Akeem were in agreement that Amy and Aaron who were part of the sales team were to blame for the loss.

As PM, Kathryn selected the two members of the sales team to come back into the boardroom with her to face their fate.

After hearing enough, Lord Sugar decided that Amy’s time on the show was up.
