Molly-Mae Hague has written an autobiography, aged 22, on her success story – something that comes after her controversial comments about “everybody having the same 24 hours in a day”.
Rising to fame on Love Island back in 2019, Molly-Mae has been a hit with her fan base after storming the world of fashion and becoming the creative director of brand PrettyLittleThing.
In her next career move, the 22-year-old social media star has announced that she has written a book named – Becoming Molly-Mae – which will apparently take “oversharing to a whole new extreme.”
The book is priced at £20 and signed copies sold out almost instantly, making the book an instant hit with her fans – although some people weren’t too thrilled with the news of her forthcoming book.
Revealing the news last week, Molly-Mae said: “I have been keeping a huge project, a little secret, from you guys for well over a year now – and today is finally the day that I can finally speak about what it is.
“I can’t believe I am about to show this to you guys… so I have written my very own book. This is Becoming Molly-Mae, my first ever book.
“And it is literally, this is my baby, we have honestly put so many months of work into this book you have no idea and it’s been such a journey and such an adventure, venturing into this whole new world of writing a book, it is something that I have always, always wanted to do.”
She continued: “It has been a massive dream of mine. You guys obviously know that I am a massive over sharer but in this book I take oversharing to a whole new extreme.
“I have spoken about things in this book that I have have only told close family members and friends. You really do get the full BTS, the whole behind the scenes up until this very point.
“So my whole journey. It is just very special to me and I could just burst with the fact that I am now able to talk to you guys about it and it is now available to pre-order.”
The book announcement was met with a fair amount of criticism – something that comes after the 22-year-old star was slammed for giving “tone deaf” comments about wealth and success in a resurfaced podcast.
Speaking on the Diary of a CEO podcast in December 2020, Molly said: “Beyoncé has the same 24 hours in a day that we do. And I just think you’re given one life, and it’s down to you what you do with it. You could literally go in any direction.”
The comment sparked outrage on social media, with many people branding her comments as “tone deaf”.
Now with her book launch imminent, critics were quick to pass comment on the former Love Island beauty’s new venture.
One person took to Twitter to say: “Not Molly-Mae writing a book called Becoming Molly-Mae when she went on Love Island and then got rich off the backs of the poor. Hope she wrote it in 24 hours.”
Another said: “Molly-Mae has missed a trick not naming her new book ‘24 hours in a day with Molly-Mae’.”
“Not Molly-Mae bringing a book out called ‘Becoming Molly-Mae’ after the whole ‘24 hours in a day’ fiasco,” wrote a third.
While a fourth said: “I’m assuming ‘Cecoming Molly-Mae’ is a book of regret as to how she became shallow, thoughtless and conceited? We all have the same 24 hours in a day to realise how we need to do more to help those less fortunate rather than tell them they’re not trying.”
