This Morning turns awkward as Brian McFadden swipes at hosts over Westlife song blunder

Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy have been gearing up to release their next album which will come out later this year.

The duo appeared on This Morning to chat to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary about their new music just months after releasing their first single, The One, in October 2021.

Boyzlife, the combination of Boyzone’s Keith and Westlife’s Brian, will be releasing their first original material studio album in mere months.

As they joined the famous This Morning sofa, Brian was immediately left unimpressed when he noticed the Westlife track that was playing was one from when he was no longer part of the band.

Alison said: “Westlife and Boyzone join forces. Keith Duffy and Brian McFadden. They join us now! Now you just said, earlier on we played a tune Brian?”

Brian added: “You played You Raise Me Up and it’s the only one I wasn’t in. I’d actually left the band at that point.”

Keith chirped: “You played the one song that is literally nothing to do with either of us.”

Dermot cringed as he said: “That’s literally so awkward, I’m so sorry.”

However, it seemed they found the funny side as Brian joked: “21 number ones and you pick the one I’m not a part of,” before erupting into laughter.

As Keith joked that they had “great research”, they soon moved on as they discussed their upcoming plans of Boyzlife.

The band are gearing up to hit the stage once again as part of their impressive career which followed the back of both of their stints in their respective groups, Westlife and Boyzone.

Westlife was formed in 1998, but Brian decided to quit the group in 2004, just months before his marriage to Kerry Katona ended.

He explained at the time that he wanted to spend more time with Kerry and their two daughters Molly and Lily.

Months later, he launched a solo career and began dating Australian singer Delta Goodrem and moved to Australia.

In 2018, Brian claimed to the Irish Sun that the group were offered a multi-million-pound deal to reunite as a five-piece, but he said: “It was the other boys in Westlife who said ‘no’. They didn’t want me back.”

Meanwhile, Keith, who was in Boyzone until the group decided their time was done in 2000, reunited with his bandmates in 2019 for another tour.

Three years prior to Keith’s reunion with Boyzone, Brian and Keith created Boyzlife – and now they’re back and rearing to go once again.

This Morning continues weekdays at 10am on ITV.
