BBC Breakfast weather presenter Owain Wyn Evans left his fans and famous pals delighted on Tuesday (February 15) as he made a huge career announcement.
Owain, who was recently awarded his own talk show – Owain’s Talking Shop – on Welsh language channel S4C, has been nominated for a huge award which could catapult his career.
And the announcement came with plenty of support from his famous friends – including famed Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies.
Taking to Instagram to announce the big news, Owain shared a snap from the British LGBT Awards 2022, indicating that he has been nominated as a top 10 broadcaster, journalist or host.
He wrote: “Dahlings… I am absolutely thrilled to hear that I’ve been nominated in the Broadcaster, Journalist or Host category at the 2022 @britishLGBTawards.
“Honoured to be perched alongside some HUGE icons in that category, thank you British LGBT Awards!”
Owain is featured alongside icons such as comedian Joe Lycett, Chatty Man host Alan Carr and X Factor star Rylan Clark.
The official awards account tweeted: “@OwainWynEvans has reclaimed the word flamboyant and it just makes us love his quirky character even more!
“Here’s to celebrating you in the Top 10 Broadcaster, Journalist or Host category at the #BritishLGBTAwards.”
Fans can now vote for Owain to be crowned the overall 2022 winner of the award. His official site bio cites his incredible online LGBT activism and the massive £3.6million he raised for Children In Need during his epic 24-hour Drumathon – the most successful 24-hour challenge in the charity’s history.
And Owain’s fans are clearly keen for him to win, as It’s A Sin writer Russell T Davies wrote: “Wonderful! Quite right too xx”.
University Challenge star Bobby Seagull echoed: “Well done. So deserved you superstar!”
As another fan said: “Well done, good for you!! You deserve this award!!”
“How exciting for you!!” someone else followed up, as a third fan said: “Well deserved, you have brightened up our lives, you are a breath of fresh air. We need to see more of you on our screens.”
The winners of the British LGBT Awards are set to be announced at a London ceremony on June 24.
