Louis Theroux reveals his dream interview is 'a regretful Jihadi like Shamima Begum'

Louis Theroux says his dream interview would be with ISIS bride Shamima Begum.

The documentary maker, 51, wants to grill her on her time with the terrorist group and her regrets.

He told the Daily Star Sunday: “ISIS is the story I missed when that was going on.

“I’d like to interview a bigot who is still signed up to it. Or a regretful Jihadi like Shamima Begum.”

Louis has been keen to make a show about ISIS for years.

He added: “I tried to get out there in the hope I would be able to interview some of the repentant jihadis and that’s never happened.

“I would have interviewed anyone in a position of authority there.”

Louis also wants to quiz Hollywood icon Tom Cruise about his involvement with controversial religion Scientology.

He said: “I’d love to interview Tom Cruise – only because of my history with Scientology.

“I feel as though people are either scared to ask him about it or they feel like it would create an awkward mood.

“I just think someone talking to him about what’s really going on in Scientology would be really valid.”

This comes weeks after Shamima Begum offered to help Boris Johnson fight terrorism so kids do not repeat her mistakes.

Shamima left her family in the UK with two of her friends to join Islamic State in Syria when she was just 15.

Three weeks after leaving England and arriving in Syria, Shamima married an IS fighter.

Years later, she says that she is reformed and remains hopeful of forgiveness and the chance to return home to London from Syria.

In her latest interview with GB News, the now 22-year-old said she thinks she has what it takes to stop others being radicalised by ISIS.

When asked if she would share her story, Begum told filmmaker Andrew Drury: “Of course. I actually think it’s important that they know so that they can prevent it in the future for other people.

“The fight against terrorism is not a one man job. It’s multiple people with multiple skills.”

Louis Theroux’s Forbidden America continues Sunday at 9pm on BBC Two.
