Garden Rescue viewers slam 'awful' transformation that 'looks like a building site'

Garden Rescue viewers were left entirely underwhelmed with a transformation aired on the show that they described as “looking like a building site.”

Fans of Charlie Dimmock’s hit BBC garden makeover show were shocked when they saw the efforts of her and designers Harry and David Rich on the episode that aired on Tuesday (January 22).

Charlie and The Rich brothers were seen setting about helping homeowners Karen and Colin from Romsey to transform their outdoor space.

The couple were heard describing their garden as a “total mess,” as they described how they were looking for a “relaxing retreat” where Karen could relax after work.

Colin and Karen explained that her work as a hospital reverend often meant she needed some time to decompress after work due to the “challenging” demands of providing end-of-life care.

The couple also explained how they were looking for an “Italian feel,” with a budget of £6,000 where they could entertain their family and friends.

Listening to the pitches from the Rich Brothers and Charlie, they opted for the latter’s creation as they set about constructing their dream garden.

The changes included a terracotta water feature, a £500 olive tree, a pergola and boulders which were priced at £540 each.

Upon revealing the changes Karen and Colin admitted feeling the transformation was “wonderful” – however viewers of the show weren’t quite so enthusiastic.

One viewer took to Twitter to admit feeling like the design looked a little unfinished. They said: “I like parts of it but it looks unfinished.”

Another fan replied: “I know for 6k I was expecting a lot more.”

A third posted a series of shock faced emojis as they posted: “£500 for the olive tree.”

Another continued: “This is the worst garden rescue I’ve seen.”

One bemused viewer wrote: “It looks like a building site.”

Another social media user raged:: “Anyone seen #gardenrescue? I’d be like f*** if I came home and someone had done that to my garden. And it cost £6,000, I honestly can’t believe it.”
