Matt Baker in huge farm first as he welcomes two new additions on Channel 4 show

Matt Baker’s Durham farm was involved in a huge history-making first on Saturday (February 26), as the host welcomed two new additions.

Matt currently has his own reality show on Channel 4 dubbed Matt Baker: Our Farm in the Dales, in which he documents farming life alongside his kids, mum and wife.

Matt shares the farm with two adorable pygmy goats, Brookie and Bourbon – and his mum Janice is obviously head over heels for the adorable animals.

But tragedy struck the farm when Brookie unfortunately lost her kids, leaving the family devastated.

Bourbon, however, was expecting her own baby goats – and preparations were well underway to welcome them, as Janice explained to the camera: “I was a bit anxious after Brookie losing her kids… but I got less anxious as Bourbon reached her due date.”

She then added: “These were the first pygmy goats to be born on the farm – and she’s such a good mum. The second was a little girl, so she has one of each.”

The One Show star moved back to Durham to stay at his parents’ farm in Durham when his mum suffered an accident after being injured by a sheep.

Speaking of the changes made to make the farm more accessible for his parents – aged 78 and 66 respectively – Matt told RadioTimes.com: “We’ve shored up the back of the house with all the flooding and everything that we’ve had. So, we shored up the big hill at the back.

“We’ve done lots of work around the building and the courtyards. We’ve put in new animal stables and we’ve done all sorts of barns and chicken pens and everything.”

And he regularly shares snaps with his adorable pygmy goats on social media – including a hilarious picture of one goat standing on their hind legs.

Striking a pose, Matt wrote on Instagram last year: “In honour of my Strictly days and the new line up – I’m still doing the Pasodoble!! Meet my pygmy goat paso partner, if anyone needs any tips watch this kid!”

And fans are clearly loving the animals as much as Matt is, as one shared: “Fabulous photo, goats are such characters!”

“Acting the goat again!” another joked.

As a third fan giggled: “Love a pygmy goat!”

Keen Countryfile fans might remember Matt’s previous affinity with the precious members of the farm – as during a 2016 episode of the BBC show, he was tackled by an entire herd of love-struck goats.

During a hilarious segment on the programme, Matt talked to an adorable kid: “Aren’t you just a delight?

“They’re such a delight, they really are, aren’t they? Your heart just melts.”
