BBC star Deborah James has hit back after being accused of “sexualising cancer” by wearing short skirts.
The 40-year-old presenter has inspired fans across the globe with her frank social media posts about her battle with incurable bowel cancer.
She has been living with the disease for almost six years and is now one of the few to outlive her prognosis from health experts.
The You, Me and the Big C podcast host often shares humorous messages online regarding her cancer journey which have been praised by her proud supporters.
However, Deborah’s social media posts have also been targeted by evil trolls.

Writing for her column in The Sun, she penned: “I share the highs and lows of my life with cancer.
“I’ve dressed as a poo emoji to raise awareness of a disease people refuse to talk about because it’s embarrassing. And I’ve posted photos of hideous skin rashes after treatment.
“Yet I’ve been accused of sexualising cancer, of pouting too much and acting like a teenager.”

Deborah went on to share that she’s been asked is should “really be wearing” short skirts and tops with plunging necklines.
Some nasty keyboard warriors have even brought her children into their inhaprroriate messages, claiming that her son must be “embarrassed” of her.
However, the TV personality has hit back and insisted that she “makes no excuse for who I am” and “loves” wearing short skirts, pouting for the camera and dancing.

Deborah explained that she’s “done naked photoshoots and would do one again” and added that everyone should have the “freedom to choose what is right for ourselves”.
In January this year, she was rushed to hospital due to a medical emergency and later underwent surgery after “nearly dying” following a small bleed.
Deborah is part of the presenting team, with Steve Bland and Lauren Mahon, on the BBC Five Live podcast You, Me and the Big C.

When she was diagnosed in December 2016, Deborah was told early on that she might not live beyond five years.
Doctors declared Deborah cancer-free in January 2020 but later found the disease had returned and she would require surgery.
She had an operation on her 17th tumour in November of the same year.
