Gogglebox is known for its most hilarious blunders that often leave fans in hysterics.
The British reality television series documents families and groups of friends up and down the country as they tune in and watch TV programmes and films that were aired over the past week.
The first series launched on March 7 in 2013 and has continued to be a huge hit with viewers at home. The 19th series began in February 2022.
One year after it started, Gogglebox bagged its first BAFTA in the Reality & Constructed Factual category and from 2015 to 2018, and in 2021, the popular Channel 4 show won a National Television Award.
Aside from the programme’s astronomical success, they’re also pretty successful when it comes to making fans and viewers at home chuckle – which is why here at Daily Star we’ve decided to have a look at the most hilarious blunders made on the show.
Jenny Newby’s condom blunder
Jenny and Lee were watching You on Netflix when main characters Joe and Love embarked on a foursome with their neighbours.
As one of the characters tore open a condom wrapper with her teeth, Jenny was confused when she said: “What’s she eating a chocolate bar for?”
Lee looked at her in a state of confusion and sternly said: “It’s a Johnny.”
Jenny then straightened her glasses, looked up at Lee and chuckled as she said: “Oh, I thought it was one of them chocolate bars.”
The pair then burst out laughing – and so did viewers at home.
Robbie Williams McFly blunder
Watching ITV’s Family Fortunes, the Gogglebox cast played along as the family competing was asked to name male singers who started their careers in a boyband.
Best friends Abbie and Georgia gave an interesting response which left viewers completely gobsmacked.
“Robbie Williams,” Abbie said and then repeated.
“What is he in,” Georgia responded.
As Abbie replied: “I don’t know, McFly I think, I don’t know.”
Fans flooded Twitter, with one writing: “Robbie Williams from McFly?? Is this girl okay?”
Another penned: “She did not just say that Robbie Williams was from McFly.”
While a third said: “Why did the girl from Gogglebox think Robbie Williams was a member from McFly?!”
Pete’s Prince Harry and Meghan Flog It comment
Fans were quick to point out a hilarious blunder that fan favourite Pete said he reckoned that Prince Harry and Meghan would end up on Flog It after Harry appeared on the Late Late Show with James Corden.
Pete explained that he wouldn’t be surprised if Harry and Meghan ended up rummaging through car-boot sales on the BBC One programme, but fans were quick to point out that he was thinking of the wrong show.
One fan said: “It’s not Flog It, son.”
Someone thought that the Flog It joke was scripted, not believing that Pete and his viewing partner Sophie would have come up with it.
Others however were not as annoyed by the blunder, saying: “I’d love to see Harry and Meghan do Flog It.”
Mary confuses drag queen for Katie Price
Mary and Giles were tuning into Celebrity Hunted when they made an awkward blunder that left viewers at home in hysterics.
Watching the popular programme that starred winner of Drag Race UK, The Vivienne, Mary turned to her husband and said: “Is that Katie Price, the one on the left?”
Giles said: “No,” to which Mary replied: “But she gets her face redone every so often.”
“Well, that might be her new face,” Giles suggested.
“Not Mary from #Gogglebox confusing @THEVIVIENNEUK for Katie Price,” one viewer penned on Twitter.
Another said: “@C4Gogglebox providing a much needed hour of escapism and laughter this week. Cracking up at @goggleboxgiles confusing The Vivienne with Katie Price #Gogglebox.”
Jenny and Lee’s hilarious wardrobe blunder
On Instagram, the pair shared a photo of them posing together with Jenny giving a thumbs-up as Lee smiled into the camera.
Fans were quick to point out that Jenny’s top matched the curtains in Lee’s caravan.
“Jenny has curtains to match her shirt,” said one fan, while another added: “Jenny loved her curtains that much she made a jumper?”
The pair then leaned in to the joke and uploaded a pic of Jenny standing right in front of the curtains and captioned it: “You was right folks!! Jenny did blend in #Gogglebox where’s wally.”
