Corrie's Kimberly Hart-Simpson says she was targeted by cruel trolls over her sexuality

Coronation Street beauty Kimberly Hart-Simpson who plays the role of Nicky Wheatley has opened up about being trolled because of her sexuality.

The 35-year-old actress returned to the cobbled streets of Corrie last week and has recently appeared on E4’s Celebs Go Dating – where she revealed that she wasn’t heterosexual.

When she appeared on the celebrity dating show she spoke out about being pansexual, which means that she is attracted to people of any gender identity.

Speaking to the Sunday People she opened up about cruel memes and people thinking her sexuality is a publicity stunt.

She told the publication: “I’ve had a couple of memes. Me holding a Tefal pan, because I’m ‘pan-sexual’, but that’s all right.

“People saying it’s a stunt are not my problem. That’s their problem.”

In 2020, in an interview on Lorraine, she came out as bisexual when she explained that the year before, she designed a rainbow-themed dress for actress Jessica Ellis for the British Soap Awards.

Speaking to the Scottish sweetheart she said: “We were representing the LGBTQ community and I’m part of that as well. I represent the B. So for me to do that was really, really important.”

But it was in January 2021, that she stated that she is pansexual, rather than bisexual.

After appearing on the popular dating show she started dating Shane Finlayson after they both appeared on the programme.

The couple went on to date for six months before calling it quits, with the stunning star releasing a statement which read: “After 6 months of dating Shane and I have decided to part ways.

“We are proud of our journey and respect each other immensely. The show has been the best experience.

“Our journey after that even better but with the distance between us, work commitments and restrictions can naturally take its toll.”

The blonde bombshell addressed her relationship status, saying: “I don’t mind a quiet life; I’m happy to be single. I spent Valentine’s Day learning my lines and I’m focusing on work at the minute anyway. You just have to fill your life with things that you love.

“And then if somebody is something else, that does change that vision. But right now I’m living my best life.”

The blonde beauty is open about her sexual identity

This comes after Kimberly returned to the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, after taking an 18 month break.

She plays former sex worker Nicky in Corrie and has recently opened up about her big comeback.

Kimberly apparently created a mood board and said: “Two and a half hours later my agent called me and said Corrie had put the feelers out. It made me feel so powerful.”
