Piers Morgan slams Rebel Wilson for 'sexist' jokes that 'couldn't be said by a man'

Piers Morgan has called out actress and BAFTAs host Rebel Wilson for her crude jokes and claimed that the comments she made would “get a man abused”.

Australian actress Rebel Wilson, star of Bridesmaids and Cats, hosted the 75th annual British Academy Film Awards at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

She wore her signature blonde hair in Hollywood style curls and a figure-hugging red sequinned dress, but viewers were more distracted with her inappropriate jokes throughout the evening.

Wilson made a number of jokes including comments aimed at Prince Andrew’s Pizza Express comments, 10 Downing Street’s lockdown parties and she even stuck a middle up to the camera which was aimed at Vladimir Putin.

Viewers were divided over her presenting style

She also made multiple jokes towards The Power Of The Dog star Benedict Cumberbatch and at one point, Rebel wheeled out a cake which was a bust of the actor.

At times her jokes fell flat, receiving minimal applause and the audience often looked unimpressed.

The 41-year-old actress began a segment where she gave out her own awards, which were just her “old bras” spray painted gold.

Many audience members seemed uninterested in her material

She began handing them out to members of the audience and gave one out to “the person Leonardo DiCaprio would find the most attractive” because he “does like them young”.

Then she suddenly threw another one behind her to the “person with the best reflexes” as some audience members reached out to grab it.

Journalist and ex-Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan was tuned into the show and seemed less than impressed with the wise-cracking presenter.

She began handing out spray painted bras as “awards”

He took to Twitter to complain about her controversial jokes and many other viewers responded.

Piers tweeted: “Great to see Rebel Wilson cracking all the jokes that would get a man abused, shamed and cancelled if he cracked them.”

One fan replied and said that they thought her jokes were “terrible” and that they wanted to “hide behind the couch”, while another joked that they would give her an award for being “annoying” and that she “enjoys her own brand of loosely passing humour”.

She even brought out a cake that looked like Benedict Cumberbatch

However, other fans came to her defence on the social media platform and offered up their praise for her efforts to keep the crown entertained.

One called her “funny and beautiful” while another said that she has a “terrific personality”.

As someone else added: “She’s got such a good sense of humour!”
