GMB fans think ITV studio switch-up is to prevent Richard Madeley's 'fiddling' habit

Good Morning Britain fans were unsure about the new studio layout as hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley failed to appear behind a desk.

ITV viewers demanded to know why producers had opted for Susanna, 51, and Richard, 65, to be perched on bar stools as opposed to being seated in their usual position.

Some speculated it was to add “drama” to the already tense discussions surrounding Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s army continuing to invade Ukraine.

Others were convinced the desk had purposely been removed to prevent Richard from “fiddling” with his pen and paperwork during important interviews.

Taking to Twitter many fans commented on the new set up, with one person asking: “#gmb they have employed the drama stools.”

Another tweet read: “At least they’re sitting on stools to interview about serious issues now, instead of Susanna leaning and lolling on the table clutching her mug, and Richard fidgeting and posing – still fiddling with his pen and script and jotting while the guest is speaking though!”

“#gmb why are they suddenly sitting on stools, is it for more drama?” demanded a third.

While a fourth online user penned: “Uhhm… why have Susanna and Richard moved onto bar stools and abandoned the massive desk all of a sudden?”

It isn’t the first time that the TV veteran has come under fire for his interview skills surrounding the horrific situation that is unfolding in Ukraine.

Richard was slammed last week for an inappropriate joke

Last week, fans called for Richard to be replaced on GMB after they claimed he’d made an “inappropriate” joke about the Ukraine war.

Susanna and Richard were busy discussing the news that McDonald’s would be closing all stores in Russia, when Richard quipped that a ‘no-fry zone’ would now be in place within the country.

It wasn’t just viewers who were unimpressed as his co-star Susanna even rolled her eyes at him.

Over on Twitter, one person fumed: “Richard Madeley is practically salivating as he discusses the war, it’s disgusting.”

Another raged: “When are Good Morning Britain going to see that he is an atrocious presenter, at any time, but especially at the moment #gmb #goodmorningbritain”

“Richard Madeley – unbelievable and disrespectful, ‘No fries zone over Ukraine’ #gmb,” agreed a third.
