Dancing on Ice bosses slam 'fix' claims as Brendan Cole makes final despite 'stumble'

Dancing on Ice viewers have alleged the ITV show is “fixed” after a camera “switched positions” at the same time Brendan Cole “stumbled” during the dramatic semi-final episode.

Brendan joined his fellow celebrity contestants Kimberly Wyatt, Regan Gascoigne, Connor Ball and Kye Whyte to take part in a group skate to Camila Cabello’s Don’t Go Yet.

The famous five all performed completely solo sections for the first time within the uptempo routine.

After Brendan appeared to stumble during the dance, which was led by former pro Dan Whiston, fans spotted that the camera appeared to quickly pan away.

Kimberly came first place and received top marks for her solo skate from the ice panel, Regan finished up second, Connor was third, Brendan came fourth and Kye was fifth.

Head judge Chris told how former Strictly pro Brendan was in fourth position, with just two out of five possible five points due to his stumble.

But fans were left baffled by Brendan’s position on the scoreboard and were quick to call shenanigans on the semi-final.

Another tweeted: “Brendan fell and they moved the camera away so the audience didn’t see, but yeah, it’s not a total fix.”

A third asked: “Why didn’t Brendan come last when he messed up? Not fair!”

A fourth insisted the results were staged, saying: “Ffs fix fix fix and I’LL say it again FIX.”

However some people thought Brendan should have finished up last.

One confused viewer said: “So mean to put Kye 5th when Brendan fell over.”

A second social media user asked: “Did Brendan just fall over on that group skate? The camera panned away quickly though as though trying to disguise it. #DancingOnIce #fix”

However, others were more supportive of Brendan’s place in the final, with one writing: “I would like @torvillanddean to explain why they did not give Brendan 10’s. They praised him and then refused to say why they gave low marks when Schofield asked them.”

“Brendan and Vanessa are amazing,” someone else echoed.

A representative for ITV told Daily Star: “There is absolutely no truth to this whatsoever. Brendan Cole went through to the final based on the public vote.”

Host Phillip Schofield presented the show alone, with his usual co-star Holly Willoughby being absent after testing positive for Covid.

As he opened the show, he addressed his solo role before passing on his best wishes to his unwell side kick.

And the silver fox couldn’t help but pass on his sympathies to the mum-of-three as he confessed how he found it “so weird” to be watching the show from the comfort of his own home when he contracted the virus last month.

Dancing on Ice final airs on Sunday, March 27 on ITV and ITV Hub
