Coronation Street star Antony Cotton has been working on the ITV soap for almost 20 years and he reckons the excitement isn’t over yet for his character Sean Tully.
The soap star, 46, opened up exclusively to the Daily Star about his character’s future and what to expect from the show this year.
When asked how long he sees himself staying on Corrie for, Sean said: “I’ve always said if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
“I genuinely thought I’d be there a couple of months, maybe one-two weeks, but that initial few weeks turned into years and now it’s 20 years and I don’t feel like I look old enough but there we go…”
Recently it had been confirmed that Sean’s son Dylan is set to return to the cobbles, and Antony let us in on some TV gossip.
He added: “I’ve got a busy year ahead my son is coming back. And we had a pandemic so everything changed for everybody and Coronation Street was no different, so that’s going to happen and there may be some kind of new friendship/relationship that happens.
“My job with my role within the show will probably stay the same and do the same as Sean has always done, always optimistic and always looking for the best in people.
“This year of all years is when we are really gonna need that.”
When asked if Dylan’s mother Violet could return, Antony was sure to keep tight-lipped.
Antony said: “I couldn’t possibly say anything to do with that and I genuinely have no idea how that may map out.
“Things change all the time and it all depends on how it maps out.
“What we’ve always done at Coronation Street is see how storylines evolve naturally. All I know is Dylan is around that’s all I know.”
Antony is currently starring at The Ideal Home Show where he will be there to take pics with fans at a pop-up Rovers Return.
Talking about the show, he said: “I love houses and interiors and designs and everything to do with homes. So, I love it. It’s mega, it’s packed there is food and drinks at the Rovers Return, there are photo opportunities.
“If you’re like me and like houses it’s a one-stop-shop. I will be ribbon cutting and having photos taken behind the bar with fans. So, come along!”
