Things got steamy in Hollyoaks between Joel Dexter (Rory Douglas-Speed) and Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) earlier this week.
During Tuesday’s episode, the pair, who previously were married on the show but later split, shared a kiss following many frissons over the past year.
Joel eventually pulled away, saying it didn’t fell right due to their vulnerable states.
Later Cleo scours the village for Joel but she can’t find him anywhere because he’s avoiding her and gets Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) to cover for him.
Maxine quizzes Joel about his true feelings for Cleo and he admits he will always love her.
Rory and Nadine are a real life couple who share one child and have another on the way.
They got engaged after filming their on-screen wedding date.
The actor has also been open about living with Type 1 diabetes and is known for changing his image.
As Hollyoaks viewers tentatively wait to fined out if Joel will reveal his true feelings to Cleo, Daily Star Online takes at the actor Rory Douglas-Speed’s life.
Real-life romance
The couple have been together since 2017 after hitting it off on the set of Hollyoaks.
They announced they were an item for the first time in November 2017 – after they posted pictures of their holiday in Bali.
The pair revealed their engagement in December 2018 and afterwards Nadine discussed how they got together in a nostalgic Instagram post.
She said: “At first, we never dared speak to each other on a night out after working together all day. So our make-up artist @Layla_liverpool pushed me into Rory at the bar.
A couple of years later and she’s doing our makeup for our engagement shoot.”
Discussing their proposal Rory told OK! magazine: “It was terrifying. I felt like I was on my knee for an eternity and I remember saying: ‘Go on, just say something!'”
“I felt that she was always going to say yes because we always have a laugh about it, but in that moment when I was on my knee I thought, she’s saying no!”
The couple announced the birth of their first child Reggie’s arrival back in October 2019.
At the time Nadine said: “Reggie Speed. You’re the coolest little dude we never knew we were missing in our lives! We love you so much.”
And on Christmas Day they told how they were having another child – by sharing an adorable photo of Reggie holding a scan photo – plus a hilarious clip showing the toddler stamping on the picture
Health battle
Rory has previously discussed his battle with Type 1 diabetes which he has lived with since he was aged 8.
In June 2020, the actor discussed many embarrassing experiences with the condition, and how Nadine prompted him to want to take it more seriously after pushing his body to its limits.
He also discussed his doubts over whether his illness would prevent him from being a good dad to his son Reggie. and said his condition has made him mature from a young age.
Rory said: “I always joke to people it [diabetes] keeps me on my toes while I’ve still got them. and they don’t know how to take that.

I have been diabetic since I was young. I learnt so much from a young age and because of that I am older than my years.
“People say what would you do if there was a cure and I’ve always said truth be told I wouldn’t want the cure because I know what I’m doing with this life.

Hair transformation
