Denise van Outen has opened up about the horrors she faced following her Strictly Come Dancing injury with professional ballroom partner James Jordan on Lorraine.

During Thursday’s (March 17) instalment of the popular ITV morning show, the 47-year-old shared never-before heard secrets about her family life and thriving television career in her most vulnerable talk to date.

As the blonde bombshell promoted her new autobiography, titled A Bit of Me, she revealed the extent to her life-changing injury on the beloved dance show after she was dropped on her head during a complex lift.

Now, in her tell-all interview with the beloved Scott she revealed the scar she received from the surgery where doctors were forced to operate through her neck where they had to “remove her voice box” in order to save her back.

As she opened up about the extensive surgery she faced after the fall, the mum-of-one emphasised that her injuries were a complete accident.

She told viewers at home: “I had quite major surgery so they had to take my voice box out and then I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to sing again ’cause you can get horse voice after an operation like that.”

“So, it was major surgery, the rehabilitation was quite a long time but I kept it very private just because as much as I’m out there and I talk about things, there are some things in my life that I do like to keep private.

“I wasn’t looking for public sympathy, I was hoping to just heal on my own. It was major surgery but I’m fine now.”

The TV star went on to show the scar she was left with as a result of the invasive surgery which in an attempt to end the relentless questions on what caused it.

Denise added: “People keep asking me, because I’ve got a small scar on my neck, I get asked on TV a lot, ‘What’s the scar from?’

It was at this point that Lorraine said: “And that’s where they took the voice box out to get into the neck and spine to do the operation. That is astonishing.”

Unfortunately, the Olympic gymnast pipped her to the post at the epic ballroom showdown.
