Liz Hurley's 'heart aches' as she misses Shane Warne's funeral and shares sweet tribute

Heartbroken Liz Hurley has been forced to miss the funeral of her late ex Shane Warne following an unfortunate scheduling conflict.

The star posted a tribute on Instagram on Saturday as she shared a series of photos from when they announced their engagement in 2011.

Liz wrote: “My heart aches that I can’t be in Australia tomorrow for Shane’s funeral. I was filming last night and, with the time jump, physically can’t get there.”

“These pictures were taken in Sri Lanka to celebrate our engagement – we had all our children with us and it was the happiest time. It still hasn’t really sunk in that he’s gone.”

She added: “It seems too cruel that all the people who loved him will never have another Lion hug, but our memories will live forever. RIP Lionheart, with love, your Luna.”

Liz’s first tribute came shortly after Shane’s tragic death, with the actress first writing: “I feel like the sun has gone behind a cloud forever. RIP my beloved Lionheart.”

Days after her initial post, on International Women’s Day, Liz wrote a sweet post directed at Shane’s two daughters.

She said: “I dedicate this International Women’s Day to two brave, beautiful women, Brooke Warne and Summer Warne.

“I love you both so much and have the happiest memories of our times together. Your daddy loved you with all his heart.”

Liz had remained quiet on Instagram in the days that followed, before posting an additional tribute to him as she revealed she couldn’t attend the private service.

Shane will have a private funeral service in Melbourne tomorrow, with a state funeral at Melbourne Cricket Ground expected later this month.

His close friends will join his parents Keith and Brigette, brother Jason and his children Brooke, Jackson and Summer.

Shane and Liz famously dated prior to his proposal in 2011, but they cancelled their wedding two years later.

The death of Shane, 52, was confirmed by his management team on March 4, just hours after he posted a photo of the Thai villa in which he was staying.

Thai police confirmed Shane’s cause of death was natural causes following an autopsy report done by local authorities.
