Country singer Hank Williams Jr's wife dies after 'medical procedure complications'

Famous country singer Hank Williams Jr.’s wife Mary Jane Thomas has passed away aged 61, it has been reported.

The sad news came after Mary was rushed to a hospital in the local area of Jupiter, Florida, where she was pronounced dead on Tuesday (March 22).

According to TMZ, the police department in Jupiter got a medical call to the Jupiter Beach Resort & Spa around 5pm (EST) on Tuesday.

The country star’s wife was then “transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.”

A family member apparently told TMZ that Mary’s passing could have been the result of a complication following a medical procedure.

TMZ said: “A family member confirmed Mary Jane passed away Tuesday in Jupiter, Florida, and we’re told the early indication is it appears she suffered a complication – possibly a blood clot – following a medical procedure,”

However, the alleged source said her death “does not appear to be suspicious”.

The publication said Thomas used to work as a model for Hawaiian Tropic suntan lotion.

Mary and Hank met at one of the Country Hall of Famer’s 1985 concerts, and they later tied the knot in 1990.

The couple went on to welcome two children together, Katie and Sam, but Hank Jr also shared his other two daughters Hillary and Holly with his ex-wife Becky White.

Tragically, their late daughter Katie died in a car accident which took place in 2020.

The 27-year-old had been driving an SUV in Tennessee with her 29-year-old husband Tyler when she crashed.

She was survived by Tyler and their two children Beau Weston and Audrey Jane.

Hank Jr. is the son of late country music icon Hank Williams, who bagged 12 Number One singles during his career – three which came posthumously.

Williams Sr., who was hailed as the King of Country Music, died back in 1953.

However, his son Williams Jr. has still achieved bags of success in the music industry himself, being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame last November.
