Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen has brutally swiped at Stacey Solomon, saying her home could be improved by “mass murder”.
The Changing Rooms host revealed he has become sick of the likes of “interior influencers” such as Loose Women’s Stacey and Mrs Hinch.
In a previous interview, Laurence had stated that he wasn’t a fan of Stacey’s “bloody grey walls”, and when asked if this was true Laurence didn’t hold back.
He told the Daily Star: “If only they were bloody grey walls I think a bit of blood on the grey would actually bring it alive, at least there would be a bit of colour. In fact, I think Stacey Solomon’s home would actually be improved by mass murder.
“The thing with grey is you just don’t do grey on grey on grey unless you literally want to wake up every day in a bunker. Grey is a good colour it should be the background it should be the rice on which you put the sauce.
He continued to rant: “The problem with Stacey is that she’s got some strange idea that she just uses grey then it somehow going to work.
“But if you’re going to be brave enough to put your head above the parapet and become an interior influencer I think you need to spend a bit of a moment working out how these things should be.
“I do slightly despair as obviously what Stacey is doing and what the Hinch woman are doing they’re basically turning grey into the new beige very quickly we are all going to get terribly bored of it.
“I have to say it’s very disparaging to see these interior influencers, what both of them do, just looks like shades of washing accident.”
Laurence is also currently working on the Ideal Home Show, having returned for his tenth year.
Talking about the show, he said: “The Ideal Home Show has always been amazing and it gives you ideas of trends and colours and it’s much easier being able to see it in person than looking online.
“It’s my tenth tear ribbon cutting and I’ve been working for the Ideal Home Show a lot longer than that, it’s a very important part of the seasonal calendar like Ascot or the Chelsea Flower Show.”
The Ideal Home Show, in partnership with NatWest, the world’s longest-running exhibition, is back at Olympia London until Sunday 27th March 2022. A host of experts and celebrities will be hosting Q&As on stage throughout the 17 days at the show. For more information and tickets, please visit idealhomeshow.co.uk
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen’s Top 5 Interior tips, as shared at the Ideal Home Show, in partnership with NatWest
- Interior colour trend predictions – blues and purples: it’s a very very sultry end to the colour palette and something that will give you immense pleasure. We in Britain have very grey, very green light coming into our rooms so using blues and purples, particularly at the strong end of the spectrum, will give you a jewel box light space that will never ever, ever disappoint.
- Pattern is back: just look at the catwalks, look at the fashion magazines. Pattern is something that brings such degrees of storytelling, detail and interest to an interior. The patterns to really watch are traditional ones inspired by the arts and crafts movements, inspired by William Morris but given a dramatic new rebrand for 2022, with stronger colours or more convoluted colour combinations like blue and purple.
- Keep it personal: it should be a reflection of you, your own style and your own taste. Never be bullied by other people to tell you you should do it one way or another.
- Turn your back on the grey-naissance: grey has become a phenomenal cliché these days – it’s the beige of our generation. It’s a good idea because a grey room will look bigger than a beige room, but whatever you do make sure that you’re accenting with strong, bright colour or emphatic pattern.
- Laurence’s “tippiest toppiest top tip: drink gin”
