Late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins possibly died of a heart attack, it has been reported.
The world-famous rock star tragically passed away aged 50 – leading to an outpouring of tributes from fans and fellow musicians around the world.
Health chiefs in Bogota have since alleged the talented musician might have passed away from a heart attack after “white powder” was reportedly discovered in his hotel room.
According to a statement from the City Health Department, the drummer sparked a medical emergency after he suffered “chest pains”.
The department confirmed an ambulance was called to the scene, but a response team from EMI was already present at the scene and trying to deal with the incident.
The star was apparently pronounced dead at the scene after attempts to revive him.
The statement read: “With regards to the death of the American musician Taylor Hawkins in the neighbourhood of Chapinero, which happened on Friday night, the City Health Department states the following:
“The city’s Emergency Regulation Centre received an alert about a patient with chest pain in a hotel located in the north of the city.
“An ambulance was sent to attend to this case. However when the health department teams arrived, they found a mobile response unit from the company EMI at the scene.”
The statement continued: “The health professional that was dealing with the emergency indicated attempts to revive the patient had been carried out but there had been no response and the patient was pronounced dead.
“The relevant authorities removed the body and started work on the investigations required as part of these types of incidents.”
The health experts finished off their statement by saying they “regret” the death of the “talented and world-famous drummer”.
They added: “We regret the death of this talented and world-famous drummer and send a message of condolences to his family, bandmates and fans.”
The statement did not make any mention of drugs, but police had previously alluded to Mr Hawkins’ death being drug-related earlier in the day.
As published in several Columbian newspapers, The Metropolitan Police of Bogota allegedly said: “The cause of death has yet to be established.
“According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs.”
Columbian reporter Luis Carlos Velez has since claimed a police officer had entered Hawkins’ room had told prosecutors he saw a “cocaine-like” white powder.
A statement from Foo Fighters read: “The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins.
“His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever.
“Our hearts go out to his wife, children and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.”

Foo Fighters were formed by Dave Grohl in 1994 after his previous band Nirvana split up, following the tragic suicide of singer Kurt Cobain.
Hawkins took on the role of drummer, but he also demonstrated his vocal talents during the band’s concerts, times that saw Dave pick up the drumsticks again.
Speaking about joining Foo Fighters, Taylor told OC Weekly: “I was a little nervous at first, but I got over that.
“Any instance where you’re auditioning for something, you’re going to be nervous. But no-one can play better than Dave Grohl. He just has this vision in his head.”
