BBC Breakfast fans are demanding to know where Dan Walker is after he was replaced by Jon Kay in a major show shake-up.
On Monday (March 28), permanent presenter Sally Nugent was joined by her temporary co-host Jon Kay on the red sofa to discuss the issues of the day, with headlines dominated by the 2022 Oscars.
The ceremony was marred by Academy Award winner Will Smith storming the stage to smack Chris Rock in the face after he aimed a joke at Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.
But BBC viewers’ minds were elsewhere, as they wondered where Dan could have gotten to during his absence from the programme.
Taking to Twitter, one fan was quick to slam the show as they posted: “Where is Dan Walker AGAIN!! It is getting as bad as ITV with no continuity. Tired of this attitude towards the programme.”
While another worried fan asked Dan: “Morning off Dan?”
Despite his absence, Dan was there in spirit as he retweeted a clip from the programme’s Oscars segment with a row of wide-eyed blushing emojis.
However, other than breaking his silence on the incident, Dan has remained very quiet on social media, with his last Instagram post coming five days ago.
It comes after Dan stepped back into his dancing shoes for a charity event, the Rob Burrows Strictly Ball, to help combat Motor Neurone Disease.
Dan reunited with his Strictly Come Dancing partner Nadiya Bychkova to join the judging panel and step back on the dance floor – while his co-star Sally Nugent also took to the stage.
While at the event, Nadiya performed an incredible routine with her fellow Strictly pro Kai Widdrington, which saw the crowd go wild – after only choreographing the routine for a couple of days.
Speaking of Sally’s dancing, Dan wrote on Instagram: “@sallynugenttv’s salsa was OFF THE SCALE brilliant. She was so good despite the nerves. Rob is the only person she would have done that for.”
He added: “Also… a special thank you [Nadiya]. Despite all that is happening in Ukraine and problems and delays with getting her visa… she flew to the UK just for this event – just as she promised she would months ago.
“She danced an insane jive with [Kai], a Charleston with me and judged the whole event.”
The star concluded: “Thank you to everyone who helped put the event together to raise money for the Rob Burrow MND Centre in Leeds.”
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
