Will Smith's daughter Willow says 'be kind' as she backs dad after Oscars slap

Willow Smith, the 21-year-old daughter of Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett Smith has showed support for her dad, who slapped comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars award ceremony after the comedian made an incredibly awkward joke about Jada.

Jada has been rocking a close-cropped hair style, after publicly admitting she has been sadly suffering with alopecia, a disease which causes hair loss.

The stunning singer shared a post on Instagram on Tuesday night, (29 March).

She shared a post to her stories, which was uploaded by account @jayshetty which reads: “You know who’s going through a lot right now? Literally everyone. Just be kind.”

While Willow hasn’t publicly spoken about the incident, the post seemingly shares a very important message, about the importance of kindness.

The mysterious move comes after her mum Jada Pinkett Smith also posted on her Instagram account on Tuesday, saying: “This is the season for healing. And I am here for it.”

Her post came with no caption, and comments have been limited

The couple’s son Jaden Smith, 23, admitted on Instagram that during his dad’s emotional acceptance speech made him shed a tear, and Will bagged the Best Actor Award for his acting in moving King Richard. The film is about sisters Serena and Venus Williams’ father.

Will has since apologised for slapping Chris Rock at the year’s hottest celebrity gala, posting on Instagram on Monday (28 March) that: “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive.

“My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable.”

The post goes on to say: “I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong.

“I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.”

Twitter users have commented on the apology, with American media personality Nicole Behnam tweeting: “When Will Smith said ‘I am a work in progress,’ in his apology to Chris Rock…

“I hope a lot of people felt that. And continue to make progress.”

Another user wrote: “First, Chris Rock owes Jada an apology. It was particularly cruel to make her head the joke when it is due to a medical condition.

“Second, I thank and commend Will Smith for supporting Black women.

“He is human. I forgive him for not being perfect.”
