Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee split weeks before anniversary of baby Azaylia's death

Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee have split, the couple have confirmed.

The couple have faced one of the most challenging years of their lives as the anniversary of their daughter Azaylia’s death approaches following her battle against leukaemia.

Ashley and Safiyya sadly announced that she had passed from the rare form of leukaemia on April 25th, 2021.

Almost a year on, the couple have now gone their separate ways, sources have claimed.

A source told The Sun that the romantic side of their relationship has come to an end, but the pair still love and support each other and currently still love together.

They added: “No one knows how something so tragic can affect a couple, and it’s been incredibly painful for them to make this decision.”

In a joint statement on Instagram, Ashley shared: “After a devastating and heartbreaking year, Safiyya and I decided to separate a few months ago.

“This was an incredibly tough decision which we needed to keep to ourselves for some time to give us the opportunity to figure out our own journey privately.

“The past few months have demonstrated that we remain the closest of friends, spending time together everyday, and that we will love, care and support each other forever.

“We are bonded by our powerful journey together, by the eternal love we have for our daughter, and our passionate commitment to her foundation.”

Last year the couple raised over £1.5million to get treatment for their baby girl, but sadly she was too unwell and died in April.

Azaylia passed away at just eight months old in April

She had a beautiful funeral following her death, with the funeral procession led by eight horses decorated with orange feathers while homes and businesses on the route were also decorated.

Prior to her death, various landmarks lit up with orange to raise awareness of childhood leukaemia.

Ashley had posted the details of plans for the service online ahead of time, explaining that it would be a private service as he thanked people for their “prayers, words of sympathy and patience.”

He said at the time: “We have been incredibly moved by the support we have received far and wide and all the beautiful gestures of kindness will live in our hearts forever.”
