Dan Walker has explained his absence from BBC Breakfast as fans beg the Strictly star to return to the morning news show.
Over the past week, the broadcaster has been taking a much-needed break from the beloved BBC show to take part in a charity golf tour held in Mauritius.
The dad-of-three is part of the celebrity line-up with all contestants competing for a share of a £100,000 prize fund for their chose charity with the winner of the star-studded sporting contest will take home £25,000.
On Wednesday (March 30), the TV star took to Instagram to share some of the behind-the-scenes snaps from the sporting event as he posed beside professional golfers Richard O’Hanlon, Mark Wharton and Paul Streeter.
He captioned the friendly snap: “What a privilege to play the Belle Mare Plage legend course today with these gorgeous pros: Richard O’Hanlon, Mark Wharton and Paul Streeter.
“Great company and top quality golf (from them) … Bring on the @eylegendstour celeb challenge tomorrow.”
The doting dad also retweeted the same snap posted by professional sportsman Richard O’Hanlon on Twitter, saying: “What a treat this was. Tomorrow I’ll be trying to win some money for @SheffChildrens in the @euLegendsTour Celeb Challenge.
“I’m talking a good game but nine holes in six months (before today) isn’t the best preparation.”
Fans soon swarmed to the comments section of his sporty post as they passed on their well wishes and best of luck for the big game.
One user penned: “Good luck Dan!” while another chimed: “Good luck not that you’ll need it!”
A third joked: “Nine holes in six months, what have you been doing with yourself. Enjoy and good luck.”
On Monday morning (March 28) fans demanded to know where he was after the TV presenter was replaced by Jon Kay in a major show shake-up.
The temporary co-host was joined by permanent presenter Sally Nugent on the red sofa to discuss the issues of the day with the headlines dominated by the 2022 Oscars.
When Dan failed to appear on Tuesday morning (March 29), viewers fumed as they flooded to Twitter to share their disappointment at his absence online.
BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am
