David and Victoria Beckham's £40m mansion raided by thief while they were at home

David and Victoria Beckham have had their £40million mansion broken into and raided by a masked burglar while the famous pair were at home, it has been reported.

The celebrity family were apparently unaware as the thief broke into an upstairs bedroom at the mansion in Holland Park, West London.

It is understood David, Victoria and their ten-year-old daughter Harper were inside the mansion at the time of the horror break-in.

It was son Cruz who discovered the London mansion had been broken into after he returned from a night out with pals to find a spare bedroom had been ransacked.

According to The Sun, 17-year-old Cruz spotted glass lying on the floor which came from the window which had been broken into.

He then told former footballer David about the incident, who rang the police as he searched the home with his teen son.

It is alleged the raider, or raiders, had escaped with thousands of pounds worth of electric and designer goods.

A source told The Sun the famed family were the victims of a group of “fairly professional thieves” who have been active in the area.

The source said: “Sadly the Beckhams were the victims of some fairly professional thieves who have been operating in the area.

“Fortunately the criminals only made it as far as one bedroom before they ran off.”

David and fashion mogul Victoria were said to have been “shaken up” by the incident, the outlet suggested.

The couple have been forced to deal with kidnap threats and stalkers in the past.

The source added: “The security at the house is very good, both physically and technically.”

It suggested the thieves had broken through a window and later escaped through it with a number of items.

The alleged insider also explained David and Victoria’s fellow residents have had to increase their home security.

It is understood CCTV footage is being investigated by police.

Last night the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were investigating the incident and said it was unclear whether the thief was acting alone or had accomplices with them.

A Met spokesman said: “Police were called at 00.37 hours on Tuesday, March 1 to reports of a burglary at a residential address in the W11 area of Kensington.

“The burglary is believed to have taken place between 20.30 and 23.30 on Monday, February 28.

“A number of items were reported stolen. No arrests have been made. Inquiries continue.”

Speaking on other crimes in the area, the police said: “Inquiries are ongoing. Police believe entry was forced to a neighbouring property, and an attempt made to access another.

‘’Nothing is believed to have been stolen from the first address.”

David, Victoria and their two younger children Cruz and Harper spend a lot of time at the London property, which David and Victoria bough for £31m in 2013.

The couple also own a £6m Cotswolds estate as well as properties in Dubai and Miami.
